JLO: the anniversary

Jennifer Lopez stepped out in NYC yesterday with Alex Rodriguez and her kids. Question for you: last year, on The Social’s Gossip Year in Review episode, we were asked, as we do every season, to make a gossip prediction. We shot that show back in December 2016. My prediction: “JLO will get engaged again. It’s been too long since she’s been engaged.” Two months later we found out about JRod. And we’ve had to look at it all year. Don’t lie. They’re wearing you down. I can tell by your emails and I am SO DISAPPOINTED IN YOU. Do I sound like your mother? Anyway, the question is: can I claim to have been right with my prediction? They’re not “officially” engaged. But he’s more than just a “boyfriend” at this point, isn’t he?

From the beginning, I’ve always said that JLO with ARod reminded me of JLO when she was with Ben Affleck. Guess what? Yesterday was my birthday. But it was also, apparently, the 15th anniversary of the Jenny From The Block video. I’m a birthday narcissist and dictator so it surprises me that I actually never knew that that video came out on my birthday because I try to associate everything with my birthday. It’s not like I would have missed it either. HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED IT? How could any gossip have missed it? I lived for it. Lived on it. For weeks. That video remains on the list of most gossip-worthy music videos of the last 20 years, it’s probably #1 or #2 – no disrespect to Taylor Swift’s #LWYMMD but… please.

Here. Because now we all just have to watch it again. And we all have to observe at the same time that, after 15 years, how does she look exactly the same if not even better?

In other JLO news, much more important news, she announced this week that she’s making a $1 million donation in support of hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. Today she and Marc Anthony…

“…announced the creation of Somos Una Voz (We're Once Voice) on Wednesday, a humanitarian relief initiative and alliance which includes some of the biggest names in Hollywood, the world of sports and the arts.

Together they have over 1 billion social media followers to help raise awareness of the critical situation and also raise donations for those in need. The Somos Una Voz alliance is working together to rush food, shelter, medicine, power, and communications to those in need that were affected by recent natural disasters.

Alliance members include Alejandro Fernandez, Alejandro Sanz, Alex Rodriguez, Alex Sensation, Bruno Mars, Camila, Chayanne, Daddy Yankee, Ed Sheeran, Edward Norton, Enrique Santos, Fat Joe, Fonseca, Gente de Zona, J Balvin, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jessy&Joy, Jimmy Smits, John Leguizamo, Juan Luis Guerra, Kany Garcia, Lin Manuel Miranda, Luis Fonsi, Maluma, Magic!, Mario Domm, Mottif, Nacho, Narciso Rdoriguez, Nicky Jam, Paul Simon, Pitbull, Prince Royce, Ricky Martin, Romeo Santos, Vin Diesel, and Yandel.”
