As I say often, I’ll never pick a red dress. It’s just so...red.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, however, has and can make a red dress work. This one though. Not the shine. It’s the fabric. So that’s two strikes on top of each other: red and satin. To me the satin rarely photographs well, rarely shoots luxuriously.
