Marion Cotillard Gossip
Between Marion Cotillard and Vanessa Paradis, it is full on French Heaven these days. Can’t decide whose life I covet more: Marion has an Oscar and Guillaume Canet and she looks the way she looks but Vanessa has Johnny and her amazing gap teeth and that je ne sais quoi – like here winning best female pop song at the Victoires de la Musique on Saturday in a beater and a polka dot tie and suspenders. She is said to be “heartbroken” over those controversial remarks that widely published after her Oscar win. Her agent says they were taken out of context. Am bias so I believe. And objectively speaking, the prevailing word on Marion is that she is the sweetest. Full Story
Ugh. Why can’t more celebrities make like David Beckham? His approach to life: Don’t talk. Just look hot. My Marion Cotillard, fresh off her Oscar win – of course with the added exposure they’re digging into her past: how many times she’s taken her top off in a movie, who she’s f&cked, who she snubbed, what she said. Photos have just surfaced of my Marion and Guillaume in London for the BAFTAs… very cute. My favourite is the one with him looking over at her as they’re walking to their car on the way there. And the hugging. And he’s holding her BAFTA. But look at those big pools as she’s walking up the stairs. Full Story
If George Clooney had any taste, he’d be all over my Marion. As it happens, George Clooney prefers his girls deep on the cheap and tawdry side. And although he’s trying to whitewash her in the mainstream media with cute little details about their Oscar night to People Magazine and the like, Sarah Larsen at the end of the day will always be the girl who danced for Nine. There was no dress last night as exquisite as hers. Not a dress for everyone, but for a French girl, with inimitable French style, wearing French couture, and charming everyone in the auditorium, it was perfect. Jack Nicholson apparently couldn’t get enough of her. At one point he was overhead cracking: Now why couldn’t I present Best Actress? Unanimous agreement – my Marion was one of the highlights of a rather dull show. Full Story
Dear Gossips,
Marion!!! My Marion!!! Would you believe she sang in the press room? A journalist asked her to choose a Piaf song that best reflected her emotions. She serenaded us with Padam Padam…
I love her. I love her as much as I love my Gwyneth. Maybe… maybe even more.
This was my second year and it doesn’t get old. The Oscars. Being right on the carpet and then being on the balcony watching the candid moments – like when George Takei from Star Trek and Heroes stepped on Anne Hathaway’s dress. Snort.
The Depps can deliver porn too…did you know? Classy Cruz, Javier rockin’ the man pose, and more delight from John Travolta…
Thoughts from the Academy Awards take over today’s column. Many, many posts on the way. Scroll down, click on VIEW MORE ARTICLES to get caught up. I also posted as promised on the weekend. Don't miss!

PS. So much smut from Saturday night too. Like the Night Before Oscar Party at the Beverly Hills Hotel where I saw Tilda Swinton and fell in love. More on that later.
PPS. John Krasinski and Rashida Jones? STILL together. Saw it with my own eyes. Details to follow.
PPPS. Sorry about typos? It’s an all nighter!
Granny Freeze Nicole Kidman should be taking a pregnancy page out of fellow Aussie Cate’s expectant couture. This is Dries Van Noten and it is exquisite. You should have seen the embroidery on the skirt – it was like something out of Versailles circa Louis XIV. Ridiculous. And she is HUGE. Full Story
BIG upset! Huge upset! Julie Christie was rolling over everyone this season – and it was thought to be a done deal at the BAFTAs too. She is British after all. But it was Marion Cotillard tonight who surprised everyone. On the carpet and on stage. Note the tears in her eyes in the press room, completely stunned by her victory. Full Story
My girl at the Nominees Luncheon yesterday looking perfect, as usual. Love how her belt is falling and those shoes… the shoes! Above all, it’s the poise. That French grace you can’t teach. If George Clooney had any sense and taste, he’d be all over it. Unfortunately, George Clooney’s taste in women is sh*t. Full Story
They say Julie Christie can’t lose. And she shouldn’t. But if I had a ballot, as you know, apologies for repeating this for almost a year now, my vote would go to Marion Cotillard. Because her turn at Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose was simply astonishing. Please do see it if you haven’t. Full Story
Big weekend for Marion Cotillard. First, the LA Film Critics named her Best Actress, then the Hollywood Foreign Press Association did the same in the Musical/Comedy category making an Oscar nomination a foregone conclusion. Apparently Marion’s win over Ellen Page was considered an upset. Not that Juno wasn’t incredible and not that Ellen isn’t super incredible…but really??? Was it really an upset? Has anyone seen La Vie en Rose? Oh wait. Full Story
Oh Canada! Sarah Polley’s Away From Her was awarded last night at the New York Film Critics Circle last night for Best First Film and her leading lady Julie Christie received the Best Actress honour, positioning her well for an Oscar nomination to be announced 2 weeks from now. The Critics’ Choice Awards go ahead tonight… Ms Christie has a very, very good shot at making it two for two. Full Story
Sorry. I’ve been harping about her for months. But if you’ve seen La Vie en Rose, you know why. And non-English speaking actors are often ignored. Marion Cotillard’s performance as Edith Piaf is nothing short of extraordinary. Even legendary. Some critics have described it as “monumental”, a performance that should, and will, stand up for all time. Full Story
Biopic vs Biopic. Will it be Angelina’s Mariane Pearl vs Marion Cotillard’s Edith Piaf come Oscar night? Here’s Marion last night at the Gotham Awards – stunning, stunning, stunning. Love, love, love. Both performances were world class. But at the risk of waking the Brangelunatic beast, Marion’s was truly transformative. Full Story
If you haven’t already, you must must must see La Vie en Rose. My earlier review can be found here. Marion Cotillard’s portrayal of Edith Piaf is nothing short of genius. And if she doesn’t receive an Oscar nomination, it will be a f&cking travesty. Full Story
Cate Blanchett’s The Golden Age has not made the impact most predicted. As such, her performance is no longer being regarded as an Oscar favourite. Angelina Jolie’s role in A Mighty Heart is still holding up but the film was released early – back in June – and Academy memories can be short. Full Story
