This Charlie Sheen situation has dominated headlines for weeks now but you know, it’s almost exactly 10 years since RDJ’s last arrest? April 2001. He was loaded on cocaine, wandering around Culver City barefoot. That was also when he was working on Ally McBeal. He’d already caused multiple delays, was totally unreliable, showed up f-cked up often, and after this final incident they fired him and rewrote the script. This incident also forced the shut-down of a few other projects he was attached to and he lost out on several movie roles too.
You know who gave RDJ his first job after he pulled his sh-t together? It was Elton John and one half of my obsession, that’s right, Sam Taylor-Wood. The video for I Want Love. He looks healthy, calm, really hot, and uncomfortably…honest? I don’t know if that’s the right word. But with the lyrics, his expression, and what had just happened to him, it’s hard not to see that is more than just a lipsynch.
That was 10 years ago. And in a decade, he really hasn’t aged at all. Remarkable, non?
