What’s the first thought that comes to your mind looking at these shots of Ang Lee and Anne Hathaway together at the LOUIS XIII and Film Foundation Creative Encounters event in Beverly Hills today?
God I love that movie. It’s one of the few movies that gets me all emotional just thinking about it. And when I hear that song, forget it, I’m done.
In 2006, the Oscars were presented later, in March, because of the Olympics. Just like it is this year. And Brokeback Mountain lost to Crash. Even Jack Nicholson didn’t understand it. This year, the Oscars are being presented in March because of the Olympics. And, well, there’s a good chance that 12 Years A Slave will get Brokebacked for the same reason.
I hope not. But, well, you know the Academy.
Ang Lee won Best Director for Brokeback Mountain. He is the reigning Best Director Oscar winner for Life Of Pi. Not sure if he’ll be invited back to present on March 2 but Anne Hathaway will indeed make her only appearance during award season at the Dolby Theatre, likely to present Best Supporting Actor. Probably to Jared Leto.
You think she’ll walk the carpet or will she skip the carpet altogether? A part of me thinks she might just skip the carpet given that she’s largely avoided the circuit. At the same time, she might want some dress redemption too. Prediction?
I’ll say…she skips.
