It’s been, what?, about a month now since we last saw them on a carpet together, right? Was it the world premiere of Unbroken in Australia? When Unbroken’s Oscar chances looked a lot better? Before the Sony hack, before the chicken pox…
Here they are, Angelina Jolie, fresh from meeting the Pope, and Brad Pitt today in LA at the AFI Awards. Unbroken made the AFI Top 10 List. (It’s actually 11 this year because there was a tie.) This might be the only time we see Brange all weekend since Unbroken was shut out of the Globes. I was talking to an etalk producer just now who was hoping they’d still show up anyway…
Anything is possible, I guess. And Selma is nominated in the drama category so, officially, Brad could go to support that since he’s a producer. But Oprah, who also produced, has already been announced as a presenter. There’s only so many producers who can go on stage to accept a film’s honour. And I’m pretty sure, given that there are over 10 producers and EPs credited on the picture, that Brad wouldn’t be the one to accept the way he did for 12 Years A Slave last year (at the Oscars).
That’s not to say I wouldn’t want them there. WE ALL WANT THEM AT THE GLOBES. We all want them to show up unexpectedly and cockblock the sh-t out of everyone. But that’s what it would be: A major, major cockblock.
