Acclaimed writer and director? The man behind Inception?

Well, the Jolie thinks she can do it too.

As I’m sure you’ve heard, while Jennifer Aniston’s latest was dying at the box office this weekend, Angelina was in Sarajevo on UN work, meeting with government officials to discuss the refugee situation and to push for immediate action. While there, it was also announced that she’d return in the fall to make a movie, with local actors, about the love affair between a Bosnian woman and a Serbian man during the Bosnian War.

The Jolie will NOT be in the movie. Rather, she’s directing it. And, um, she wrote the screenplay.

“Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie is set to make her feature film directorial debut. A love story set during the Bosnian war, the film focuses on a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and the effect the war has on their relationship. Based on an original screenplay written by Jolie, the actors will be solely compromised of various ethnicities from the region of the former Yugoslavia.” (Source)

Not sure what “compromised of various ethnicities” means.

So good on the Jolie for wanting to do more, to engage the local creative community. But ultimately she’s an actor. And you know about actors, narcissistic actors. You know about actors and egos etc. And she and Brad Pitt, there is no bigger Ego in Hollywood than the Brange. Can you imagine half of that Ego writing and what that script will look like? I’m thinking it’s more Ethan Hawke than Sarah Polley, Jolie Cheese!
