What’s worse than spitting on people? Worse than overplaying the middle finger? Worse than refusing to sing adult-themed music? Worse than a one trick pop pony?

How about a one trick pop pony who plagiarises???

That’s Avril Lavigne according to Chantal Kreviazuk, the lovely Canadian songstress with whom Avril has supposedly “co-written”, and with whom she used to have a close friendship.

Used to.

That was before Chantal came to her senses and realised what a poser hack she was dealing with and cut that sh-t off. Because Avril, for all her posturing, for all her “I’m in control of my own destiny and I’m a real artist who writes her own music, unlike Britney Spears” – for all that tough talk, Avril is actually exactly the same. Only she lies about her own songwriting abilities and finally, finally someone is stepping out and calling her play.

In an interview with Performing Songwriter, Chantal is asked about working with Avril. Chantal does NOT mince words:
"I find it funny that it"s in Performing Songwriter. I mean, Avril, songwriter? Avril doesn"t really sit down and write songs by herself or anything. Avril will also cross the ethical line, and no one says anything. That"s why I"ll never work with her again. I sent her a song two years ago called "Contagious," and I just saw the tracklisting to this album and there"s a song called "Contagious" on it-- and my name’s not on it. What do you do with that?"

And so the journalist suggested legal action to which Chantal replied:

“See I won’t do that. I’ll just tell you. Art should not be subject to that kind of controversy. Art should be pure. In my head it is, anyway.”

Which brings us back to Avril’s “collaboration” with The Matrix with whom she “co-wrote” most of the hit songs, the most popular ones, off her first album Let Go – the album that made her a megastar.

At the time, she had a falling out with The Matrix after one of the members mentioned that the extent of Avril’s contribution was to suggest a word here or there, pretty much confirming that she had little if anything at all to do with song production. Avril said she felt betrayed by the comment and supposedly had The Matrix fired, insisting that she did indeed play an instrumental part in coming up with all of her songs.

But given what Chantal – an actual legitimate songwriter – has now revealed…it’s the same refrain all over again, non? Confirming what we all suspected anyway:

Avril Lavigne is as manufactured as the rest of them…only her protests to the contrary make it worse. Punk poser plagiarist. And twat.
