US Weekly is reporting that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were in Venice with their kids last week for a family trip. That’s the lead-in to a source telling the magazine that:
“A lot of the damage in their relationship has been mended. They’re in a really good place.”
And according to a friend of Jen, she “would get back together with him” even though other sources are insisting that a reconciliation isn’t happening and that they’ve just found peace in co-parenting but that it won’t lead to anything else.
Still. A story like this is suggestive. And it’s a temperature check. We are coming up on a year since Ben and Jen first announced their separation, followed by our introduction to Chrissy O. After Chrissy was taken care of, the two spend months letting us see that they had consciously uncoupled. And Jen assured us in Vanity Fair that she wasn’t a doormat. Unlike Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, however, neither one has started dating. So what if these gradual steps forward are part of the larger plan to reaffirm their relationship publicly? Like instead of throwing us into the deep end, they’re letting us wade into it gradually?
