Beyoncé on the cover of GARAGE Magazine. And yesterday several headlines mentioned that during the interview with GARAGE, B revealed that:
"Out of everything I've accomplished, my proudest moment, hands-down, was when I gave birth to my daughter, Blue.”
Beyoncé, as you know, as we’ve heard, or not heard, does not speak anymore. It’s been two years. Is this her first real interview in two years?
I’m not sure this qualifies as an interview. There are several quotes (you can read them here) – about her relationship to art (she IS art, motherf-ckers!), about what the Beyhive should be reading, about how her mother inspires her – but a collection of quotes is not an interview. And I’m not sure even GARAGE would characterise it that way, because in the preview of the special issue on their website, this is how the magazine describes it:
In this special Noº10 Issue, GARAGE worked with the internationally renowned artist, Urs Fischer, to deliver a sharp collection of portraits with global icon, Beyoncé. The story continues with exclusive words from Beyoncé herself, soon to be activated within the GARAGE Mag App upon scanning Page 70.
“Exclusive words”, to me, is not an interview. “Exclusive words” is Beyoncé sending them an email. Maybe it reads differently in the publication. Maybe in the publication they tell us that an actual human being met up with Beyoncé or Facetimed her – anything requiring actual contact and communication – and heard “exclusive words” coming out her mouth in response to real questions directed at her. I didn’t bother with the app so if you did, let me know.
Have a great weekend!
