Click here for a refresher if you missed the story this week – BBT’s shenanigans on CBC radio that have pretty much earned him universal disdain. We can all agree: Billy Bob Thornton is a total douche.

So last night, he and his band took to the stage at Massey Hall. What’s the band’s name? Doesn’t matter. Why doesn’t it matter? Because he’s not interested in promoting his band. If he was interested in promoting his band, he’d turn off his prick and play ball. Since he’s not interested in playing ball, why should you be interested in the band?

Anyway, after three songs BBT decides to take centre stage and address the controversy:

"It seems as if when I say something it's in the news."

They booed him.

But he continued:
"Boo all you want, but I want to say something.... We're really happy to be here, but I need to say something. I talked to this a--hole yesterday. I sat down and talked with this guy. He and his producers say, `We promise you we won't say that' (meaning references to Thornton's acting career). The very first thing they said was that. I don't really like sensationalism. If you look someone in the eyes and promise them something, and you don't do it, you don't get the interview. That's the way it goes."

BBT apparently spent the day yesterday trying to convince Canadians that he likes us. That he didn’t mean to insult us with mashed potatoes and gravy. His efforts don’t seem to have made much of a difference. Most of the crowd at Massey Hall last night couldn’t wait for him to get off, having come there to see Willie Nelson.

As for Jian – needless to say, the way he handled the situation, it’s been a major coup. Praise from all corners. Many of you have emailed to request him for the Freebie Five. I’ve added him to the options list but Jian would probably prefer something else instead. He'd prefer you to support LIGHTS.

He is her manager. And she just won the Juno for Artist of the Year. LIGHTS is currently playing gigs in the UK and will join the VANS Warped Tour this summer. Also…in person, she’s f-cking gorgeous. Here’s her MySpace.
