Deadline reports that a year after wrapping on Gossip Girl, Blake Lively has finally secured her next role. She’ll play the lead in a film called The Age Of Adeline, co-starring Ellen Burstyn, about “the miraculous life of the 29-year old title character, who stops aging after recovering from a near-fatal accident. Over the 20th century she embarks on an epic but isolated worldwide journey, keeping her secret, until she meets a man who forever alters her life”. I can’t wait to watch a movie about a woman whose life is forever altered by a man because that story is never told. Benjamin Button just became a rom-com, isn’t that what you always wanted?
The Adeline project has been in play for a while now. Three years ago it was intended as a vehicle for Katherine Heigl to be directed by Andy Tennant. Andy Tennant directed a movie called The Bounty Hunter starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler. Now that Heigl is so unpopular, they’ve found Blake to replace her. The good news? A different director. Lee Toland Krieger will be behind the camera. You might know his work from Celeste & Jesse Forever, a movie I actually quite liked, mostly because it was well written by Rashida Jones.
Blake will begin shooting The Age Of Adeline in March. As she previously noted, one of the highlights of the film will be the clothes. Sounds about right.
