But you expected this, didn’t you?
Blake Lively’s been married a year. She’s also showing off her skills in the kitchen. She bakes a lot. She’s decorating her home. She loves fashion…
It’s Gossip Girl turned GOOP, and now she’s telling UK VOGUE that she’s turning that into a business:
"It's something that will be launching in a few months and that I'm really, really thrilled about. The main element of it is that it's about storytelling and it's about living a very one-of-a-kind, curated life, and how to achieve that. There's nothing like it out there - it's without a genre. I have so many passions outside of acting and things that I grew up being good at and that I don't utilise when acting. Acting was something that my family did so I just kind of got into it by default, but there was so much that I cultivated, thinking that I wouldn't be an actor."
Is it really one-of-a-kind if you can duplicate it for other people? Isn’t that, like, the opposite of one-of-a-kind?
But you really do have to be a certain kind of person to be able to sell on the basis that you are totally an original when, um, there are already several models of it out there already. And somehow she finds a way, a way to say that whatever she’s planning is “without a genre” and that “there’s nothing like it out there”. So, basically she’s claiming that she’s about to start a lifestyle revolution – and no one’s thought of it before. Blake Lively. According to Blake Lively, the Blake Lively Lifestyle has never been done.
OK. Now I’m expecting to be transformed. You promised.
Oh, and there’s a new movie.
"When I was doing Gossip Girl, I had these short breaks where I could play a character on weekends, but there's a movie I'm really excited about that I'll be doing this winter and one of the most enticing parts of it is that it spans from the 1900s until now. The fashion is amazing, and my character gets to experience all of the different time periods and tell the story through fashion. It's not a movie about fashion, but it's an integral part of who she is and the whole story."
So far no industry announcements have been made. But you can imagine Mrs Timberlake must be wondering why she never saw a script.
