Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have confirmed that they are divorcing:
"This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
Well, they’ve just given the tabloids a new story to put on their covers this week. As you know, several magazines have been chronicling the supposed turmoil in their relationship for a while. He’s been accused of cheating and flirting with other woman on social media. His drinking was rumoured to be a problem. She didn’t thank him at the Academy of Country Music Awards in April. Miranda once said that, “Divorce is not an option”.
There will no doubt be allegations on both sides. You know what people forget though? Miranda is now just 31. She and Blake have been together since 2005/2006. Which means she was with him through all of her 20s. I used to ask about this all the time. I was told that they were both ambitious at the same time, that they both saw major career ascension at the same time, and that now they might want different things. He’s coming into his 40s. She’s just easing into her prime. I don’t doubt that there may have been distractions. But, having been married now for almost 14 years, I also know that it can’t work unless you want the same things…at the same time.
