Brange is in Malta shooting a movie called By The Sea. Angelina wrote it. She’s directing and producing. Brad is also producing. They play a married couple in crisis. There’s already been a lot of talk about how ironic the timing is. I’ve already talked about how I just want them to go at it Mr & Mrs Smith styles again.

Entertainment Weekly now has exclusive production photos and more detail about the story:

Set in France during the mid-1970s, Jolie plays Vanessa, a former dancer, and Pitt is her husband Roland, an American writer. As they travel the country together, they seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper (War Horse and A Prophet‘s Niels Arestrup, pictured below) and hotel owner (Richard Bohringer, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover.)

As a kind of found-family is assembled amid these maritime dwellers, histories are shared—some joyful, some mournful—and the couple are swept up in their stories, changing the way they look at each other.

OK now that actually sounds more optimistic. Their relationship is troubled. Then they meet all kinds of charming people in a seaside town and those charming people help them rekindle the sex? We need the payoff of the sex.

So maybe it’s like a diversion. Sell the film on the idea of watching Brange in turmoil. Draw us in with drama, then close the deal with f-cking. That would be ideal.

Do these shots remind you of that infamous W Magazine spread?
