Forgot to mention that in Cannes, Brad Pitt did a lot more press than usual in support of The Tree of Life. Normally he bangs off a few major, major outlets – CNN and NBC for example – is VERY selective, and doesn’t bother with the junket style situation. This time? There was a full on rotation in there. He was doing multiple outlets, small and large, a lot more access than has been allowed to him in a long, long time.

Also, between the two of them, it’s usually the Jolie who’s forthcoming with the personal details. You think she’s a control freak? HE is a control freak. And he doesn’t usually engage. But for The Tree of Life, there’s been a lot more willingness to open up, share a few gorgeous nuggets about the children, about their relationship…

Coincidence or conspiracy?

USA Weekend landed an exclusive interview with him, “his first extensive interview” in a couple of years, during which Pitt discussed being a responsible parent…:

“Kids hold up a mirror to you. You can't make excuses. You've got to make sure they've brushed their teeth and eaten a good breakfast. You want to be present if they wake up with a bad dream.”

And how Angelina is some kind regular mom on a camping trip:

“On the road, we're a military mobile unit. The kids have got their stuff down to one backpack, and they're each responsible for their own bag. Mom does the packing; she's quite gifted at that. Puts in just what we need — nothing extra.”

And what playtime looks like at their house:

“Angie and I do everything we can to carve out some semblance of normalcy for them, to re-create the kinds of moments that were special for us. It's not unusual for the kids to be covered in paint. We have mud fights. It's chaos from morning until the lights go out, and sometimes after that.”

And he doesn’t even complain too much about the fact that we’re always up in their business. He says it’s a pain in the ass, but that he wouldn’t want it any other way, especially since the way he’s chosen has brought him his family:

“We're hunted. Our kids have to live behind a gate. Outside, there are people with cameras. But I'll take the trade-off. I never knew I was capable of experiencing so much love.”

So about the marriage thing – the Brange previously announced that they’d not get traditional until everyone, ANYONE, had the same basic right. Their children might however affect that decision.

“The kids ask about marriage. It's meaning more and more to them. So it's something we've got to look at.”

That wouldn’t hurt in the eyes of the MiniVan Majority either, would it?

And finally…Brad gives us a little Pitt Porn, word styles:

“There are no secrets at our house. We tell the kids, ‘Mom and Dad are going off to kiss.' They go, ‘Eww, gross!' But we demand it.”

I’m telling you, that’s about as obsequious as Brad Pitt gets. Awards season is a long way off. I guess it’s never too early to start.

And speaking of Brange kissing – when I thought about what photos I wanted for this article, the first ones that came to mind of them kissing were from the SAGs. So I did a search for Brange SAGs and found the ones from 2008 when she was pregnant with the twins and they were all over each other during dinner, remember? They were however also at the SAGs in 2009. For some reason, it cracked me up, this shot of Mickey Rourke kissing the Jolie’s hand. In fact, the 3 of them together, I don’t know why, I found it hilarious all around.
