Less than 2 weeks away from the release of Circus and Britney’s MTV documentary For the Record which promises to be as candid of a celebrity reveal as has been seen in recent years. Quotes and clips are now starting to leak from the programme, the most insightful has been Britney’s explanation about her climb out of hell.
"I have really good days, and then I have bad days. Even when you go to jail, y'know, there's the time when you're gonna get out. But in this situation, it's never ending. It's just like Groundhog Day. I'm having to pay for it for a really long time. If I wasn't under the restraints that I'm under right now, I'd feel so liberated. When I tell them the way I feel, it's like they hear me, but they're really not listening."
It’s not clear exactly what she’s referring to and some have chosen to relate her comments to her court restrictions, her father’s conservatorship over her life, but it many ways, it also applies to these articles here and here and also to how her creativity has been stifled under the cloud of the drugs that keep her stable.
As I reported last week, Britney has told people she wants to be a mom. She wants to move home to Louisiana, get away from the crazy, as Angelina said… “fade away”. And yet she’s embarking on a world tour, heavy duty press to promote the new album, and not even a year after frying up her chicken spectacularly in front of the entire universe, throwing herself right back in. Partly because, of course the Team is pushing it, but also because she probably doesn’t know how to exist without it. After all, she’s been doing it her entire life.
Yay for child stardom.
