Cameron Diaz was at CinemaCon yesterday in Vegas to promote The Other Woman with Leslie Mann. As we all know, Cammie is tight with Gwyneth Paltrow. And Gwyneth’s “conscious uncoupling” has been the only story all week. So E! News asked her how her friend is doing. And, surprisingly, instead of getting pissy and how dare you-ee, Cam answered thoughtfully and graciously.
"For both Chris and Gwyneth, I mean they worked really hard. People want them to blow up and it to be ugly, but they're kind, generous, loving people who really care about one another. Just because they don't want to be a couple together, doesn't mean that they have to hate one another. They are really good friends. They've made a conscious effort to separate the part of their lives they don't want to live together anymore, and maintain a really beautiful, strong bond as parents and as friends...I think people should really honor that and they should admire it and they should respect it. They've done something really extraordinary, and they've been very brave at presenting that to the public. She's doing great. They're doing great."
Kinda makes you wonder why she didn’t write the separation announcement, right? It goes down a lot easier the way Cameron presents it. I mean, where G is concerned, even before she starts speaking you’re already sh-tting on what she’s saying. And then she gives you something solid to sh-t on with her fancy explanations.
You think Cammie cleared it with G before talking about her? Definitely. She knew she’d be in front of the press. They had to know it would come up. Which means G gave Cammie the go-ahead. And Cam delivered. It’s Cam who’s humanised Gwyneth, the way all of Gwyneth’s friends humanise her. Like RDJ. Like Ryan Murphy. Even Chelsea Handler humanises her more than she can possibly humanise herself.
