Model becomes an actress. You’re like, whatever, because you still remember seeing Cindy Crawford in Fair Game. Nine times out of ten I would agree with you. But my best memory from TIFF 2014 was that I found out that Cara Delevingne can act. It was a film called The Face Of An Angel. Totally forgettable. Except for her performance. She has It. Click here for a refresher.
Cara’s big film break will likely be John Green’s Paper Towns. After The Fault In Our Stars, Green is like the new Nicholas Sparks, only a much better writer. In Paper Towns, everything hinges on Margo. Margo is your newest Manic Pixie Dream Girl. She’s alive! Most of the Manic Pixie Dream Girls we’ve seen over the years though have just been variations on Zooey Deschanel. Cara’s version, however, is what you imagined Kate Moss to be, before Pete Doherty. I wanted to see that movie for 20 years. Only Kate never wanted to act. So Cara’s doing it for both of them. And she does an American accent SO convincingly.
The movie? The story? I don’t know that I care. But since I care so much about her, of course, I’m seeing it. And PS. I did NOT see The Fault In Our Stars. Two reasons. Ok, no, three reasons:
1.Didn’t love the book
2.Their names were SO annoying
3.SW
