First - I am all over what she’s wearing and how she’s wearing it and her eye makeup and her hair and those delicate, beautifully designed straps on that dress... love it all, and HER most, so much.

Anyway, does it feel to you like she’s at this event, the Hollywood film awards, every year? It felt that way to me last night when I was looking through the photos. So then this morning I checked. And this is her third in a row. In 2009 she received the Breakthrough Award. Last year she presented it to Andrew Garfield. This year she’s the Hollywood Supporting Actress for her work in Shame. And she flew all the way from Australia, where she’s been shooting Gatsby, to collect it. That’s a condition of the Hollywood Awards, see? If you can’t come, you don’t get it. And she wanted it. And she wanted to be able to thank Shame director Steve McQueen:

“I begged and begged Steve McQueen for the part and even followed him into a taxi and pretended I was going to Soho.”

She is very good in the role as Fassy’s sister who has some serious problems of her own. And she sings. People kept talking about how great she sounds when she sings. I mean... we’re not Bette Midler here. It’s like how hipsters get excited when waifish looking girls warble in commercials, you know? I much prefer Carey’s speaking voice. SO f-cking sexy.
