I like Carey Mulligan from afar better than I like it up close. One of the best things about her is that she always kind of seems amused in pictures – I think it’s just the way she places her mouth – but this utterly matte lip works for that. She looks amused.
But I feel like there was a whole thought put into this look, which is very Red Queen from the Looking Glass, red notwithstanding, and then put it with sensible pumps. I mean if you’re going to go all the way, why have a sensible pump!? My kingdom for something inappropriate and dramatic to create this queenly scenario!
I am not always good at thinking about the outfit not taken, but I know for sure that there are more risky artistic shoes on the floor in Carey’s hotel room that she decided she just couldn’t do. I wish she had, but I guess I understand why she didn’t?
