I’m sure I’ll hear it from you on this one. But remember here that we’re talking about Cate Blanchett. Cate Blanchett doesn’t make style decisions with an eye to what someone like, say, Reese Witherspoon would wear on a carpet. In fact, she’d look at something that Reese Witherspoon would wear on a carpet and say “absolutely not”. Cate Blanchett doesn’t give a sh-t what your garden variety People Magazine fashion watcher considers great style.

This was an architectural marvel. It was fashion art. It comes down a runway and maybe 5 people in the whole world could pull it off. Maybe. Cate Blanchett often makes choices that only she can pull off. In the strictest definition of iconic, I’d say that’d be one of the criteria.

Look at the back of it too. It’s extraordinary. And the yellow, it just came UP. And the way she carried herself in it, owning it without any try about it, never needing your approval in it, in the corniest expression of style, it ultimately comes down to pleasing yourself. And making that decision with that as the only required validation. Also, she makes me want to cut my hair.
