Princess Catherine is guest-editing The Huffington Post UK today in support of Young Minds Matter to raise awareness of the importance of mental health awareness in children and to encourage programs and initiatives that address the challenges facing young people with mental health concerns. Here she is at work at Kensington Palace today, consulting with the editorial team and in conversation with children and mental health advocates to begin eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health care. Prince William, meanwhile, was also on duty yesterday as he visited the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London to mark the first anniversary of the FCO’s Diplomatic Academy. The Cambridges’ schedule the last few days suggests to some that they are starting to become political, subtly. Kate’s involvement in the mental health campaign is being seen by observers as gentle pressure on the British government to increase spending on youth mental health services and Will’s remarks at the FCO yesterday have been taken to mean that he’s on side with the UK’s continued participation in the European Union. The article notes that if this is indeed Will and Kate’s motivation, they’re following the example of the Queen, who is much less obvious in her approach, than Prince Charles’s pointed positions.

Will and Kate will celebrate 5 years of marriage (f-ck me, where did that go?) in April. Two children, a couple of job changes too, and now, it seems, they’re ready to take on a more prominent role in the family business.
