Whenever ‘Schitt’s Creek’ was said aloud inside the Emmys theatre, the polite roll of applause would swell, in kind of a warm, but slightly raucous way that felt familiar, somehow… Sometimes, when Mike and I are watching TV, I’ll get too excited and go on at length about some behind-the-scenes element I’ve gleaned, (I am a master at figuring out when actors have colds they’re trying to hide) and want him to praise my brilliance. Confession: I missed the beginning of the show live, including host James Corden’s over 10-minute opening number, and saw it after I’d watched the rest of the show. I didn’t think that would shift the fabric of my whole viewing experience, but I saw more than a couple of grumpy-assed reviews this morning, and I disagree with them vehemently. Full Story

From co-writing This Is Spinal Tap to writing directing films like Waiting for Guffman and Best In Show—the zenith of his mockumentary features—Guest’s credentials are impeccable. His latest mockumentary, the first in ten years, is Mascots, which follows the lives and professional hopes of a group of odd ducks competing in a “sports mascotery” tournament. Full Story

He’s now an award-winning showrunner because Schitt’s Creek was named Best Comedy at the Canadian Screen Awards last night. Earlier last week, Dan also won a CSA for writing. I can’t say it enough, how proud I am of my friend Dan Levy who created Schitt’s Creek. And wrote it. And stars. And is the showrunner. PS. Dan is only 31. I hate him! While I obsessively watch him, week after week, because I need everything he wears in every f-cking episode. Next time you hear someone say “black is boring”? Where The Wild Things Are – NY premiere
A star-studded carpet last night in New York. Oscar winners Tom Hanks, Forest Whitaker showed up to support alongside the film’s stars Catherine Keener and Catherine O’Hara (love her so much), and young Max Records with Spike Jonze and Maurice Sendak. And oh yeah, Blake Lively too. Where The Wild Things Are marks the third time Jonze has directed a feature film. Full Story
