Isn’t it?

The Avengers is currently shooting in Cleveland. This is supposed to be 42nd Street in New York. And Captain America and Thor are fighting the bad guys. Check out Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth in their costumes with their hammers and shields. Kinda dorky, right? It’s so dorky when it’s out of context. When you, the viewer, are not locked in a dark theatre and asked to suspend disbelief. When they’re out there in broad daylight fake punching and kicking. When there are no special effects, just two overgrown dudes pretending to be superheroes. Acting must be so f-cking weird.

The Avengers is due in theatres May 4, 2012. Seems far away but not really. Six months of post isn’t super short, but it’s far from super long. Having said that, RDJ has already wrapped up most of his work on it (and looking ahead now to Iron Man 3, more on this later) so I’m thinking they’re close to completion on shooting. It’s too bad we’ve seen little to nothing of Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner. Are you excited for this movie? Have to remind myself to ask Duana this. Avengers really isn’t her flavour, but then there’s the Joss Whedon element she may find hard to resist.
