Arguments for:
-The success of Captain America secured him his very own superhero franchise. With Avengers coming in 6 months, itΓÇÖs a good way to build momentum. HeΓÇÖd certainly have his studio backing it. And, unlike Ryan Reynolds, his film was actually good; he established that before taking the title.
-All American attractive. And PEOPLE never goes back to back in naming NON-Americans to the throne. Last year was a Canadian. This year, chances are, they come home to the USA.
-Scandal-free, squeaky clean
Arguments against:
-Captain America was a hit, but is Chris Evans a hit? Chris Evans, on his name alone, doesnΓÇÖt have all that much traction. Is Chris Evans known by his own name? Or is Chris Evans Captain America? You canΓÇÖt give the Sexiest Man Alive title to a cartoon.
-HeΓÇÖs boring. Like how much swoon does Chris Evans actually inspire? On a massive scale? Think of Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Hugh Jackman, Brad Pitt...and then Chris Evans? I dunno. It doesnΓÇÖt feel congruent.
Odds: 25 to 1
