David Duchovny, sex addict. As you know, he released a preemptive statement last week announcing his admission to rehab amid rumours of infidelity that had been swirling for some time. The statement was both sudden and also very specific, leading many to wonder when the other shoe would drop… if a celebrity is forced to be so candid, what could he really be hiding?

Now Roger Friedman is reporting that David’s addiction is related to pornography, citing a close friend who insists that Duchovny was not unfaithful to Tea Leoni but that his web activities had escalated to the point of obsession.

In other words, and pardon the crass, it’s not cheating because there was no physical contact. Because beating off in a chat room with a complete stranger is totally not the same.

Right?

Right?

Apparently, in PR speak, this is an absolution.
