As ridiculous as she is – and she is beyond ridiculous most of the time – Celine Dion captures a certain Hoffness that can bring a smile to your face no matter how dark the day, no matter how heavy the burden. Behind the freakish thumps, the facial gymnastics, the icky icky love talk, the posing babies, and the way she never ceases to overload us with too much information we just don’t want, it is impossible to deny the overwhelming amount of Hoff that Celine brings to our lives, especially when she performs on stage. Here with Elton John at a charity benefit the other night. Watching any uncoordinated human being attempt to dance is hilarious enough. Watching Celie Dion, quite possibly the most uncoordinated diva on the planet, attempt to dance is pure Hoff genius. I particularly enjoy the shot of her playing air guitar, so psychotic and so strangely hypnotic you can’t help but cover your eyes and keep watching. And at the end of the day, isn’t that the essence of the Hoff Master???
