Kit at the Emmys
It breaks my heart a little at how adorably awkward Kit Harington looks in almost every photo from the Emmys last night. He seemed slightly more comfortable the day before at the BAFTA LA tea party in skinny khakis and a white shirt. I try not to spend too much time thinking about Game of Thrones. It’s maddening. Emmy 2011 Worst: Zooey Deschanel
Am I supposed to picture her plucking the petals off of some flower, in a meadow, while her bike leans against a tree, as beams of sunlight filter through her eyelashes and her voice skips across the clouds, carried by the wind... is the picture Zooey Deschanel is conjuring? Because all I want to do is punch the hipster who thinks this would be a good dress for a garden party in the middle of goddamn January as a scene in a screenplay called 10,000 Ways To Find Corduroy Annoying. Worst Emmy Crop Top: Gwyneth Paltrow
In 1997, Jada Pinkett wore a crop top to the Oscars, remember? Click here for a refresher. It’s the first thing I thought of when I saw Gwyneth last night. Jada’s was awful, totally. But at least Jada’s didn’t give her love handles. Full Story
Emmys Best Man: Idris Elba
I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I can’t post more photos. I’m sorry that the goddamn photo agencies didn’t bother taking more photos. I’m sorry that Idris Elba, a nominee, wasn’t important enough for them to want to take photos. I’m sorry that the demand for Idris Elba photos is so low that the photographers would rather spend their energies elsewhere. Full Story
Emmy Best Dressed: Evan Rachel Wood
Sasha was right. After I finally had a full length look at it, she was totally right. Evan Rachel Wood’s black beaded amazingness was indeed the best of the night. I’m not saying it could have stood up to the bests of other award nights because, let’s be honest, last night was so much, too much, medium, more medium than we’ve seen in a long time. Full Story
Worst Winning Dress – Melissa McCarthy
Written by Duana Oy, oy, oy. Again we wonder why we’re looking at the dress, rather than the woman. So let me dispense with this part first. I didn’t like Melissa McCarthy’s dress. I didn’t think it was attractive to look at. Full Story
Best FNL Fan: Jon Hamm
Jon Hamm looked bummed out when Mad Men won for Best Drama. Jon Hamm also has a man-crush on Coach Taylor. This is why we love Jon Hamm. Who looked, as usual, very handsome last night. And very chivalrously helped several ladies up on stage. And he loves his lady so much, Jennifer Westfeldt, which is why I wish, I wish so much, she would stop with the nonsense all up in her face. Worst Stomach Clench – Connie Britton
Written by Duana Warning: I get emotional in here. If it’s not for you, no prob. Oh, you guys. Unbelievable. What a roller coaster ride if you’re a Britton fan. Of course we all had no hope that they could sweep the four categories they were nominated in. Full Story
Best Emmy Fumble: Coach wins!
First it was Jason Katims for Writing... which... It’s about F-CKING TIME!!!! What? You don’t understand? Because you don’t watch??? Well... I don’t know what else I can say. It’s been declared one of the best shows, if not THE best show, of ALL TIME. And Eric and Tami Taylor the most real marriage on television, like, EVER. Full Story
Worst ‘girlfriends’: Minka Kelly/ Drew Barrymore
Written by Duana A couple of weeks ago it was my sisters’ wedding. The photographer had all the women walk in lockstep, saying it would be a cool shot. In reality, the tall types out-strided the shorties, who wound up in the back behind the group. Full Story
Best Emmy skin: Katie Holmes
When TIFF was winding last week and several of us sat around comparing notes and gossiping, as we always do after the festival, a few minutes of the conversation was devoted to a certain actress who looked spectacular in photographs, wearing what was truly an inspired dress, but who actually has a serious skin problem which you can see up close.
