To American gossips returning from Thanksgiving holiday -- is it a good welcome back or a sh-t welcome back to see Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling enjoying a few days off in New York, arm in arm?

Some of you insisted, via my inbox, that since they’d not been photographed together in weeks while he was in Austin and Mexico on Terrence Malick’s movie and she was in New England shooting with Larry David, that it must have meant they’d cooled. As I reported last week though -- click here for a refresher -- Eva did drop in at least once on Ryan in Texas, and with his sister too. Anyway, as you can see, it’s all good. It’s been over a year now. Close to a year and a half, so about half the distance he travelled with Rachel McAdams. You remember what he said about their breakup in GQ a few months later? About how, like, the people were more sad about it than he was?

"Women are mad at me. A girl came up to me on the street and she almost smacked me. Like, 'How could you? How could you let a girl like that go?'" I feel like I want to give people hugs, they seem so sad. Rachel and I should be the ones getting hugs! Instead, we're consoling everybody else."

(Sidebar: please don’t be the loser pleading at the celebrity to keep loving his girlfriend because you loved The Notebook. We can all agree that this is OFFSIDE, right?)

Anyway, pretty sure there won’t be the same reaction if he and Eva are not to be, although, I dunno, I feel like this one might go on for a long, long while.
