I happened to be at the bar at the Grey Goose/Soho House party when I saw them see each other and talk just 3 feet away from me. Please. Vodka has great timing.
Alexander Skarsgard and Evan Rachel Wood had a thing going when he started shooting Straw Dogs with Kate Bosworth. Then he wasted his time with Kate Bosworth while ERW went back to Manson. She’s now back together with Jamie Bell. They were in Paris last week looking like they were having a lot of fun.
Alex approached Evan. It was a total “catch up”. And you know what it felt like? It felt like he was an older big brother or cousin type who cared about a little sister, and she was the little sister type who used to have a crush on her big brother type - ew, you know what I mean - and has outgrown it but is embarrassed to be reminded of it but still wants to show what an adult she is now. The look on his face when he was speaking to her, a look of genuine interest, platonic affection and concern, was the most attractive I have found him in a long, long time. That was the face of a nice guy.
Evan meanwhile, well, she’s in a hat and suit phase. It was 2 nights in a row. And she still had that hat on when she left the next day at the airport. A beautiful, beautiful girl. And a 24 year old girl. That was the worry, remember? With Manson? That she was behaving like a 35 year old barely out of her teens? This Evan is YOUNG. She’s flighty, she’s excitable. She puts her feet up on tables. She’s spunky. And she’s nice.
I talked to her on Friday night at The Ides of March cocktail, also at Grey Goose/Soho House. We were standing really close to each other and made eye contact so I just opened with asking her about her singing in Venice last week after the gala premiere. The video is below. Then we talked about her tooth. Which she then proceeded to pull out of her pocket. It was a small jewellery box with a plastic cover. So you know when you buy a $40 ring from one of those booths at the mall? One of those boxes. Which I found rather endearing. She planned her red carpet “bit”. She spent the whole night on the carpet showing people. Like she’s wanted to have a story to tell and a prop to go with it. Was cute.
I like her a lot. She is really, really sweet. She seems like she’s in a good place. Like she’s figured it out. But not too seriously. I want good things for her. I want her to be good.
