A new first look video of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 the end forever and ever and ever was released the other day. I won’t be a nerd and catalogue all the new footage but OMG and SPOILERS, LOOK AWAY IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOKS. And, um, why haven’t you read the books?
Fred!!!
It’s so quick you miss it but even in that short time they’re able to draw out the emotion, non? I wonder if I’ll have to carried out of the theatre from grief.
Couple months ago I spent the night at my friend Lorella’s in Toronto. Her oldest, Matteo, is 7. And last year they started reading Harry. Every night a few chapters. Lorella reading, Matteo enjoying. Matteo is obsessed. He has the lego and the toys, he was Harry for Halloween. I mean, this is truly how you want to see Harry experienced. Lorella has told Matteo that I am a Harry Potter freak. So that night he asked me to read. In an English accent. I really adore this child. He’s so smart.
At that time they were still on The Prisoner of Azkaban. (Um, Azkaban passes the Microsoft Word spell check.) Crookshanks was getting all testy with Scabbers. Matteo thought this was hilarious. I mean he laughed and laughed and laughed. He made me read it over again twice. It didn’t occur to me that that was a funny part. And I bet you the parts that I think are great, Matteo probably doesn’t notice. It was a great reminder, again, of JK Rowling’s gift. That here is something so universally beloved, no matter what age.
By the way, ugh, that spoiler alert up there is for Lorella because she’s actually never read HP before and is now committed to staying on Matteo’s schedule.
Here’s Daniel Radcliffe backstage after a performance of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying on Broadway the other night.
