Zoolander 2 is currently slated for release on February 12, 2016, which is a little over six months away. A burial in the February boneyard of cinematic crap is not a confidence builder, but then, the new teaser trailer for Zoolander II doesn’t commit to that date, instead saying only “Coming in 2016”. So maybe Paramount is going to do a little testing to see if potential audience response is strong enough to warrant a move into a more competitive, less sh*t-scented month for movies. Better weigh that decision carefully—2016 is shaping up to be a MONSTER year. February is not a sexy month for movie releases, but in 2016 it’s one of the friendliest.

But with that February date still official, Paramount has released a teaser trailer for 2oolander, which is nothing. It contains no footage from the actual movie, nor does it tell us anything about Derek Zoolander as a character or Zoolander 2 as a movie that we don’t already know. There’s a Zoolander sequel—that’s already been widely publicized. Derek Zoolander is really dumb—no kidding, that was the plot of the first movie. Summer 2015 has dealt a series of crushing blows to my faith in the movie-going audience, the latest of which is the number of people excited by what amounts to a digital save the date card. This isn’t a teaser trailer, it’s an advertisement for an advertisement TBD. Call me when there’s a real preview.
