Forbes released its list of the 10 most overpaid actors yesterday. Coming in at #1:
Le Sauvage, Johnny Depp
Because a true artist, the one who thinks himself a rock god, should never be appreciated by the masses. So either he doesn’t give a sh-t about this dubious distinction or he’s proud of it. What does he care, right? He’s already been paid.
This year, the Savage has the honour of supplanting Adam Sandler for the top spot. Obviously a major career accomplishment. And while there are certainly other big names on the list, please take a close look at the distance between #1, Johnny, and everyone else:
1. Johnny Depp: $1.20 per $1
2. Denzel Washington: $6.50 per $1
3. Will Ferrell: $6.80 per $1
4. Liam Neeson: $7.80 per $1
5. Will Smith: $8.60 per $1
6. Christian Bale: $9.20 per $1
7. Channing Tatum: $10.80 per $1
8. Brad Pitt: $12.00 per $1
9. Ben Affleck: $12.30 per $1
10. Tom Cruise: $13.60 per $1
For every dollar that Johnny is paid, he only brings in $1.20. Denzel Washington, at #2, has him by over $5. And from there, the distance between each subsequent actor is minimal, compared to the gap between Johnny and the rest of the field. Like, Johnny didn’t just win this thing, he Star Wars-ed it. He’s the undisputed champion of overpaid.
