Venice opens tomorrow. And George Clooney’s The Ides of March opens Venice tomorrow. By the way, speaking of The Ides of March…
Both Clooney’s The Ides of March and Brad Pitt’s Moneyball screen at TIFF at Roy Thompson Hall on September 9th, one right after the other. Can you imagine what downtown Toronto will look like that night? Back to back?
But first… it’s Italy. And we’ll see George in Venice very soon. In a tux. Before that though, he went boating with friends who are staying with him at the house in Lake Como including Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford. There’s something about being on a boat, like any boat, that feels so decadent. We went out on the boat in the Okanagan a few weeks ago. It was an old used boat. It was a small, small boat. But it doesn’t feel that way when you get out in the water. Can you imagine what it must be like boating with George Clooney? He looks really, really great on his boat.
Anyway, as confirmed last night, even though it was initially reported a few weeks ago on E!, Clooney’s ex Elisabetta Canalis will be competing on Dancing With The Sh-ts. I’ve never watched the show but I do remember reading an article about in Entertainment Weekly a few months ago with an interview with the producers who talked about the strategy behind the dancer selection. They always adhere to familiar categories. Every season there’s a soap opera actor. Every season there’s an athlete. Every season there’s a reality show star. You see the pattern? Elisabetta however does not belong to any of the established categories. But I wonder if she represents a new one: George Clooney’s ex-girlfriend. Because how else will they be introducing her? That’s essentially how they’ve been introducing her on the press releases. That’s the only entry on her resume. And next season, it’ll be Sarah Larson. And after that it’ll be Krista Allen. And Lisa Snowdon to follow. That’s how much of a boss George Clooney is. Not only does he have so many former lovers, they even get their own classification on reality television.
