Tomorrowland comes out on May 22. George Clooney is now promoting the movie. Here he is at Jimmy Kimmel yesterday. And there are also interviews with Extra and Entertainment Tonight. As expected, he’s asked about his birthday (Wednesday), which is why, well, he looks rough. Like really, really tired. And he says as much to Mario Lopez on Extra. Apparently there was a little party the night before. Probably with a lot of tequila.
Mario asks George about the rumours that Amal bought him a Porsche. Bullsh-t. But it’s a good segue to talking about Amal’s style as they were just at the MET Gala. (Am I a dick for hating on the way Mario pronounces “gala”?) Entertainment Tonight brought that up too. And George gives pretty much the same answer both times. That from the moment he met her he noticed her off-beat clothing choices:
"It's amazing, because she's always -- since the day I met her -- she's always had this insanely ... it's eccentric but it's fun, sense of fashion. How she does it while she's got 11 cases she's working on, and she was teaching at Columbia, and she's still like, 'I want to wear that dress.' It's crazy. It has been sort of fascinating to watch, because she has such great taste.”
Also, she didn’t get him a Porsche for his birthday. But what I appreciate here is that he knows, he knows where they’re going. That they all want to know about Amal, want him to talk about Amal, want the soundbite about Amal. And while he’s not there to give away everything, he also knows it’s part of playing the game to give something. Which he does. His job. So that they can do theirs. How hard is that?
