Mandy Moore received her star on the Walk of Fame yesterday. Her This Is Us costars were there to celebrate with her. But another costar made a surprise appearance: Shane West aka Landon Carter from A Walk to Remember.  Look, that movie was my WHOLE SH-T for a year. That movie was sh-t too, yes, that is correct. Full Story

Scammers, as we’ve seen this year, are having a moment. That momentum continues with The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story, the satisfying documentary about the late fraudster mogul who discovered Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Aaron Carter, O-Town, LFO, and most of your favourite 90s and early aughts pop musicians from the TRL era. Full Story

Yesterday, like everyone else who came of age in the 90s, I mourned Luke Perry. He was beloved for his arc on Oz, his self-deprecating appearances on The Simpsons and SNL, and his fully-realized three-dimensional Fred Andrews on Riverdale – but, as he said himself, he was, and forever will be, linked to Dylan McKay. Full Story

Chris Martin’s birthday was on Saturday. There was a party and a lot of celebrities were at the party, including his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, who also wished him Happy Birthday on Instagram. Right after wishing her husband, Brad Falchuk, Happy Birthday the day before – his bday is on March 1, same as Justin Bieber:           Full Story

The video teaser I’m posting below is only 10 seconds long. It has exactly zero familiar faces in it.  So how, exactly, is it so satisfying?    Kathleen and I were talking this weekend about songs that get stuck in your DNA. Mostly Christmas carols or hymns – and pop songs that mimic those same chord progressions. Full Story

Macaulay Culkin and Devon Sawa were two of the biggest teen beat heartthrobs of the 1990s. Generation X got Johnny Depp, River Phoenix, and Then Keanu—who is pretty much the same as Now Keanu, to be fair. But for those of us slightly too young for Gen X’s heartthrobs, missing out on 21 Jump Street, theatrical-run Stand By Me and Bill & Ted, and not quite grasping the high-school social intricacies of Beverly Hills 90210, there was Jessie Spano’s speed addiction, Macaulay Culkin and his dewy eyes bravely dying of bees so his friend could get her ring back, and Devon Sawa descending the stairs in Casper to kickstart us into puberty. Full Story

Variety

I wasn’t expecting to see Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover of Variety this week, this of all weeks. It’s Oscar week. Gwyneth is not involved at all at this year’s Oscars, at least not yet, unless, of course, she’s to be announced as a presenter. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

After wrapping the site yesterday and recording a new episode of Show Your Work with Duana, I saw a tweet that changed my plans for the night. Maybe I was extra raw from the Grammys/BAFTA/Aniston 50th all-nighter but I really felt it.  Read Full Intro

George Clooney was at the Winter TCA yesterday to promote his upcoming Hulu series Catch-22. Just a word on the Winter TCA – this used to be my assignment at etalk. I used to spend several days there every January working on coverage for our show. Most of the press events happen at the Langham, which is where I stayed. Full Story

If you’ve been reading this site a while, you know how I feel about hair luck. Back in 2008, I covered the Super Bowl in Glendale, AZ when the New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants. It’s probably one of the best Super Bowls of all time, even though it wasn’t all that high-scoring, because the Patriots were working on a perfect season. Full Story
