Gwen Stefani was in New York this weekend. She performed on Saturday and, in addition to giving us a lot of pants porn (no one has better pants than Gwen right now), she shared some new music, in particular a song called Used To Love You, presumably about Gavin Rossdale, telling the audience that she wrote it recently and that she thinks it’s really special.
It is really special.
And I don’t normally like hearing a song live before I hear it the way it’s recorded. But the lyric:
“It’s ‘cause I remembered for the first time”
The way she stretches out the word “time”? This is classic Gwen. She was the best thing that ever happened to him. But so many of her best songs come after he disappoints her. I can’t wait for the new material. That said, I’m not sure if I should feel sh-tty about what it cost her.
