Gwyneth Paltrow and her mother, Blythe Danner, were in Washington, DC yesterday to support the Just Label It coalition opposing the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act. Basically they want GMOs to be listed on your food label.

“I’m not here as an expert. I’m here as a mother, an American mother, who honestly believes that I have the right to know what’s in the food I feed my family. I’m not an intensely political person.”

G presented a petition with over 200,000 signatures. And many of her famous friends, including Cameron Diaz, are on side too.

Have you ever had a discussion about GMOs? In my experience, it almost always ends up in a fight. Science doesn’t support the worry over GMOs. Click here to read more about that. Those who are worried about GMOs don’t trust the motivation behind the science. Click here to read more from the other side. Here’s the thing though…

If you’re anti-GMO, do you want Gwyneth Paltrow to be the celebrity poster girl for your cause? There are many people who believe that the California anti-vaxx movement has built its momentum from the community she runs in. Click here to read a report on that. And that’s precisely how pro-GMO advocates are defending against the anti-GMO faction – by lumping the two groups together, comparing similarities between those who are anti-vaxx and those who are anti-GMO.

Me? I basically eat anything and I respect your choice to not eat whatever you don’t want to eat and I’d rather argue with you about Ben Affleck and Tom Cruise than whether or not my orange used to be a zucchini. The only products (and messages) I’m interested in from Gwyneth Paltrow are fashion-related. Which is why I’m obsessed with her Capitol Hill outfit. I need this top in every colour. I’m desperate to find these pants. And her shoes are gorgeous and perfect.
