Someone emailed me yesterday wondering about old beef between Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez. The question came up because G posted a shot of JLO on Instagram from her performance – without a song – at the American Music Awards.
JLO trains with Tracy Anderson now. So, if you think she’s looking better than she’s ever looked, it’s probably because she’s using the Tracy Anderson Method. Here’s what G put up:
G’s praising JLO’s ass but really using it to promote a Tracy Anderson public appearance. Fine. But wasn’t there a Ben Affleck problem between them? If there was ever any tension, Ben had nothing to do with it. G and Ben were well over by the time he and JLO were together. In fact, G was interviewed by Diane Sawyer during Bennifer, when she was already with Chris Martin, and her only comment on him at the time, which is actually one of the most insightful comments anyone has ever made about Ben, was that:
"Ben makes life tough for himself. He's got a lot of complication, and you know, he really is a great guy. So I hope he sorts himself out."
That’s it, isn’t it? Ben Affleck gets in Ben Affleck’s way.
But back to JLO – no, whatever drama that may or may not have existed between JLO and Gwyneth was never over boyfriends. JLO created the drama herself. You remember that amazing Moveline article from 1998? I’ve referenced it several times before and at this point, it’s become an essential gossip document because she runs through a list of other actresses during the interview and slags them all off. One of them: Gwyneth Paltrow. This is what JLO …then… had to say about Gwyneth Paltrow:
“Tell me what she’s been in? I swear to God, I don’t remember anything she was in. Some people get hot by association. I heard more about her and Brad Pitt than I ever heard about her work.”
