It’s that standard of excellence again, remember? In her creation, JK Rowling offered us nothing but excellence. And thus prioritising excellence has been the objective of all of those who’ve been charged with the honour of bringing her material to life – in film form, in park form, in web form, in every form.

That’s just not an attitude commonly found anymore. Especially when mediocrity makes money. Lots and lots of money. In this environment of low effort/big yield, the expectation then is that excellence is rather arbitrary, almost optional, and therefore increasingly rare.

But never when it comes to Harry Potter.

They bust their balls, even on a movie trailer –the edits, the music, the pacing, the FONT, it’s all done with a purpose: to respect the excellence of the source, to assure us that they have not half assed our beloved, and to promise us we will enjoy it so f-cking much. And you know, it’s not like they wouldn’t sell tickets if they only tried 50%.

I have watched this more times than I can count. And every time I feel the same – so excited, so emotional, and so ... proud. I am proud to love it.

Attached - a series of stills from Part 1 of the Deathly Hallows has also been released. This is my favourite. Emma is so beautiful in this photo.
