True story. I was on the subway a week or so ago and three girls were waiting on the platform, huddled around a phone, holding each other, weeping. When I walked by, I saw that they were watching the One Direction History video. I looked up and caught the eye of someone who’d noticed it at the exact same time as I did. And we shared one of those bonding smiles. It was the best.
As you know, One Direction is now on “hiatus”. There’s been a lot of anxiety about whether or not this is it, or at least until none of them can go solo and are offered stupid money to re-band. Not to mention the reality of age. When you take a break from your base and they’re only 15 years old, there’s no guarantee they’ll still care about you by the time they’re 16, or 17, or 18. Or five minutes from now. Teenagers are fickle. I know because I have the maturity of one.
So, with that in mind, here’s Harry Styles, who turned 22 years old on Monday and cheekily tweeted this:
I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22.

Just to make it super obvious, that’s a song lyric. Specifically it’s a Taylor Swift song lyric.
Here he is shopping in Beverly Hills yesterday. There’s been some speculation that Harry will be working on a solo album. A few weeks ago, it was reported that four new songs had been registered, co-written by him and Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid, aka Courteney Cox’s ex-fiance.
Now that Zayn’s post 1D career has seemingly gotten off to a solid start though, is it possible that we might see (at least) two artists emerge successfully from a boyband? It hasn’t happened in a long time. I mean, if you consider The Beatles a boyband, I suppose that could be an example. But then you’d be, um, comparing One Direction to The Beatles.
Also… do you spend as much time as I do worrying about Harry’s hairline? What will it look like by the time his album comes out? Is that a c-nty thing to say?
