According to The Hollywood Reporter, they found Nick! Henry Golding has been cast as Nick Young in the Crazy Rich Asians movie. Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh were already attached to the project as Rachel Chu and Eleanor Young (Nick’s ma). So now they’ve got their two leads, the young couple caught up in all the drama of the Asian billionaire’s club.

As for Henry Golding…who is he?

Jon M Chu, who is directing Crazy Rich Asians, promised that they’d search around the world for Asian talent. Henry was raised in London and is now based in Singapore, where Nick Young was born. He’s a travel show host. This will be his first movie role….and he’s #2 on the call sheet! This is what he sounds like:

Nick is supposed to speak posh. Sounds posh to me. But, then again, since I basically grew up in a mahjong den so I’m not sure I have an ear for Asian posh. Here’s Henry’s reaction to the announcement:

An absolute dream come true with many people to thank 😍 Firstly #WarnerBros, #ColorForce and #IvanhoePictures for putting their trust in me for such an amazing role. @jonmchu for tracking me down out of the thousands of fantastic talent here in Asia, having belief in me and spearheading such an awesome movie. @kevinkwanbooks for writing one of the most entertaining and enjoyable books that we have all come to love (The third installment is out soon!). @wonstancecoo and @michelleyeoh_official are some of the strongest voices for women and Asians across the world, it truly is a gift to have the chance to work with them on this exciting new journey. Literally bursting at the seams in anticipation! And of course thankyooooouuu to everybody who have sent words of congratulations and support, love you all! Xxx

So they’ve found Rachel, they’ve found Nick. Next: Astrid. Who will be Astrid? Astrid the most beautiful, Astrid the most stylish. I can’t wait to meet Astrid.

Two months until the release of Rich People Problems, the conclusion of Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians series! Read it if you haven’t already!
