I’ve been fortunate enough during my time with eTalk to have the opportunity to interview and observe celebrities, to exchange war stories with journalists, to have a glimpse at what it’s like behind the People Magazine bullsh-t…and as you’ve probably gleaned from this column, assy celebrity behaviour is not the exception but almost the rule, and more often than not, it’s not shocking when they’re dicky, but it is when they’re nice.

There are those who are the worst. And there are those who are the best. For the sake of juxtaposing the two, let’s recap a Mike Myers moment, shall we?

Who the f&ck is Mike Myers?

Mike Myers is the dude who hires professional former hockey players to act in his movie and then refuses to come out of his trailer to take a photo with them on the last day of filming. For real. These weren’t freaky super psycho fans. They were not randoms who just walked in off the street. These were athletes who were chosen to spend 14 hour days on set with him… and he couldn’t even bother.

He made them wait an hour and a half, had them stand outside his trailer feeling embarrassed and belittled, and in the end left them there in the dust.

THAT is Mike Myers.

And Mike Myers is NOWHERE NEAR the Johnny Depp level of stardom. Johnny Depp is… well… Johnny Depp is Johnny Depp.

He is private but he is kind. He is reserved but he is considerate. And at 5 o’clock in the morning one night, after a long day of shooting in Chicago, he took the time to speak to his fans who had waited for him for hours. And he meant it. He spoke to them. He posed with them. He rebuffed his security who urged him to leave.

THAT is Johnny Depp.

If you love Johnny, this is a must read. What it was like to meet Johnny Depp…

For them, it was a dream come true.
