Iman was photographed in New York on Tuesday, walking her dog. It’s the first time she’s been seen in public since the passing of David Bowie almost a month ago now. I’m posting these shots because I think they were meant to be posted. The credited photographer is Kevin Mazur, cofounder of WireImage. He’s one of the most well-known celebrity photographers in the business, and definitely not a paparazzo. Kevin Mazur is invited inside at events, not just on the carpet. He’s been granted exclusive access at major award shows. So, given that he’s the one responsible for these pictures, it’s very likely that he was invited to take them, that they wouldn’t have happened by accident.
David Bowie lived and left privately. As one of the most iconic artists of all time, to the end he was able to manage his departure on his terms, no compromise. And so, these images of Iman, with their dog …she’s getting on.
