It’s MTV VMA weekend. Which is why everyone seems to be running a retrospective – the VMAs often deliver gossip that lasts the entire year. Look what happened with Miley in 2013. We talked about it for months. Lara sent me this look-back this morning – click here to see the slideshow. The last line made me laugh.
But I miss Britney.
I ALWAYS miss Britney this time of year.
Sarah was watching old Britney videos yesterday and couldn’t believe it. Someone tried to tell me recently that the Britney you see in Vegas now is back up to the standard of what Britney gave us at those old VMAs. That person is 23 years old. And then I realised…oh my God they don’t know. So many people don’t know. They were present enough to feel it while watching it live, that which has gone missing and might never come back.
Britney received the Video Vanguard Award in 2011. The Video Vanguard for 2014 belongs to Beyonce. I just want to remind you, once again, that they are the SAME AGE.
Full VMAs wrap-up is coming on Monday. And then the Emmys on Monday night. Big gossip week ahead before Labour Day. Rest up!
