Dear Gossips,
For today’s introduction, to end 2013, I’ve decided to feature a celebrity who’s universally beloved. Someone who’s risen this year. Someone so “turnt up” – with grace, elegance, and ambition too – she likely won’t stop, can’t stop, through 2014. Someone who emerged, a revelation, a discovery, a major new talent.
There’s not much that’s truly good in Hollywood, as you know. But there are exceptions. Tonight is a good time to celebrate them.
Lupita Nyong’o, congratulations on the year that was. She delivers an extraordinary performance in 12 Years A Slave. She’s thoughtfully navigated her first major press and award circuit. She’s become a red carpet star. She’s smart and patient in an industry that rewards impetuous fools.
So a toast to her…
And a toast to you.
Wishing you a safe evening, surrounded by those you love. And if not, if you are alone, because yes, life is definitely not equal, may tonight be the beginning of the end of your sh-tty times and your sh-tty year. Maybe 2014 be better for all of us. Maybe Gossip be better for all of us!
