Dear Gossips,
Emmanuelle Riva and Daniel Day-Lewis did not show at the Academy’s Nominees Luncheon yesterday. Almost everyone else however was there, either to jockey for position or to get as much out of the experience as possible, because they may never be back. These are important days. Perhaps the most important days as final ballots will go out on Friday which is why several films are still pushing, sending talent out on Q&A sessions with Academy members, confirming attendance at events they’d normally not bother going to, and booking interviews on talk shows and on the late night circuit. Which says to me that, despite Argo taking so many guild awards lately, people still aren’t convinced that there’s no room left. There is, in fact, a lot of room left. And this is still a race, more than ever. Which is why it’s such a big prize...
Five Thousand Dollars!
As announced yesterday, our Annual Contest is bigger than ever this year thanks to the generous support of VH Steamers. There’s a Prada bag on the line and $5,000 in CASH. You want to enter soon as entry date will be the tie-breaker. But you also want to make sure you have a good sense of how certain categories are shaping up. And what if one of the nominees does something really dumb? Remember when Russell Crowe pissed his second Oscar away by getting aggro on a tv producer just a couple of weeks before the Oscars? When you’re ready then, click here to enter. I went to pick up the Prada bag myself a couple of weeks ago. Even the box it comes in is beautiful. And that’s just the box!
Are you obsessed with the Richard III discovery? I AM OBSESSED. The spine, the evil, the facial reconstruction...
Everyone’s saying he looks like Lord Farquaad from Shrek but I keep seeing Robert Pattinson.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
