Dear Gossips,
Sixteen years ago, Sheldon Vance was a homeless youth struggling on the streets of downtown Vancouver. He ended up at Covenant House. That was the first step. Covenant House Vancouver helped Sheldon change his life. Now Sheldon is giving back. He is a proud supporter of Covenant House Vancouver. And he has made a lead gift of $25,000 in support of the Executive Sleepout. The goal this year is $365,000 – enough money for us to shelter, clothe, and feed at-risk youth in our crisis shelter during the holiday season, which is often the sh-ttiest season, especially when you feel like you’re alone, unloved, and don’t have a future.
On November 20th, community leaders and loyal champions of Covenant House Vancouver will be sleeping on the street to raise money for young people who spend their days and nights living outside, with no homes and no hopes. At Covenant House Vancouver, we can change that story, the way we changed Sheldon’s story – his video is below and click here to see his personal fundraising page.
Click here for more information on the campaign and the Sleepout or contact Stephanie Trimble at 604-639-8913 or [email protected]. And please click here for other sleepouts happening at Covenant House locations across North America.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, I used to work at Covenant House Vancouver and I remain a committed donor and volunteer. I have seen firsthand the difference that Covenant House can make in the life of a young person who has stopped believing. It’s an extraordinary transformation.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
