Dear Gossips,
I didn’t think I’d be so into George Clooney’s wedding. But I think I might be more into his wedding than I was the Brange wedding. And that, obviously, has everything to do with Amal Alamuddin.
Whether you love her or hate her, you cannot deny we’ve been given a new gossip star. Not unlike Carolyn Bessette, as many have already suggested. Except it took Bessette a long time to get comfortable in that position and, sadly, it was just as she was easing into it that she was lost. Which, afterwards, only added to her enigma. It was before social media. It was before TMZ. She kept a lot of her secrets. And we still can’t seem to get enough of wanting to know them.
That’s what’s fun about this going forward: watching how she maintains some mystery in this world of exposure, giving us just enough to be intrigued, and not enough to intrigue us some more.
The most interesting ones are always the most polarising. And polarising is so much better than boring. Wouldn’t you rather inspire an emotion – any emotion! – than be regarded with indifference? Or is that the mark of true modesty?
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
